The political view of German and British orientalists about Ashura school encounters many fluctuations and challenges. Germany and England, as the pioneers of Islamic studies in general and Ashura studies in particular, have tried to analyze and examine the character, goals and achievements of Imam Husain's uprising materialistically regardless of religion. Due to the fact that the Islamic world and the available sources have been under the control of the Sunnis since the beginning, and the Shia sources have been distorted or less trusted, we have mostly witnessed biased and less fair results. Most Orientalists consider Imam Husain as an opposition of the central government having anti-secularist ideas and confuse his religious ideas with his political and economic opinions. Few Orientalists, however, have managed not to be influenced by personal, national or religious emotions and to study this movement only from a scientific perspective.
