Abstract
The current research aims to develop a model of family stability based on Islamic teachings. This is fundamental and descriptive-exploratory research that was conducted using the thematic analysis method. The research data were deducted by examining three main sources: the Qur’anic exegeses, Hadith sources and the books written on the field of family stability based on an Islamic approach. By coding these sources, basic and organizing themes related to family stability were identified. By combining the analysis results, the components of the family stability model were obtained. The findings were a pattern consisting of seven organizing and twenty-seven basic themes. These themes included God-centeredness in the family, relationships based on love and friendship, compatibility and tolerance, adherence to Islamic ethics, adherence to rights and duties, mutual sexual satisfaction, and proper communication between couples and their main families. The results showed that some organizing themes and the basis of the model are not seen in any of the family theories and thus the main roots of family collapse have been neglected. The obtained model can be used in the cultural context of Iran to strengthen and resolve family problems. It has the capacity to give shape to a preventive and resolving model.
