Factors weakening the family from the perspective of the Supreme Leader

Abstract

Islamic directives about family formation and paying attention to the rights and duties of family members show its importance. The present study was conducted to investigate the factors that weaken the family from the perspective of the Supreme Leader, using a data-based qualitative method. Therefore, by examining his statements in full between 1990 and 2020, a pattern of family weakening factors was compiled from his point of view. Through open coding, 238 concepts were identified in the form of 26 categories. The results showed that four factors: economic, cultural, social and individual are the main causes of the weakening of the family. In addition, women's lack of knowledge of Islamic teachings and women's inability to self-improvement (as an intervening category) and the lack of laws and guarantees of their proper implementation in the field of family law, non-implementation of Islamic rules, the cultural atmosphere of society, lack of moral and intellectual security in society and the lack of explanation of Islam's opinion about family rights were identified as other factors that weaken the family.
